Sherbrooke Village Provincial Museum

Sherbrooke Village is Nova Scotia’s largest provincial museum – an authentic living history site that is a jewel of the Eastern Shore. Today, the picturesque village still stands proud, just as it did more than 150 years ago.

About Sherbrooke Village Provincial Museum

In the 1860s, timber, tall ships and gold ruled life along the Napu’saqnuk / St. Mary’s River, turning the community of Sherbrooke into a prosperous boom town.

At Sherbrooke Village every day is a trip back in time as Nova Scotia’s 19th century rural heritage is brought to life by costumed interpreters, including the blacksmith, woodturner, potter, weaver and printer. Discover traditional crafts and trades like soap making and spinning; experience the sights, smells and sounds of a water-powered sawmill to see softwood transformed into precious lumber; and connect with Nova Scotia stories, people and heritage. The Village is also home to Canada’s longest running commercial Ambrotype photography studio.

Our activities, learning camps, workshops and schedule of special events and programs make it easy to get your hands on history all summer long!

Complete your visit with a delicious meal at McDaniel’s Tea Room & Restaurant and a visit to Village Treasures & Gift Shop for a wide selection of unique village crafted pottery, ironworks, weaving, wooden items, handmade gifts and souvenirs.
